Chocolate Smoothie

The Chocolate Smoothie is my rescue remedy half way through the afternoon.

I start feeling empty and feel I can’t make it to dinner time. A chocolate smoothie not only takes the emptiness away but it tastes delicious and satisfies the taste buds that are beginning to search for something decadent. This chocolate smoothie is also very good for you and is only made with quality health giving ingredients that will charge you with energy for the last part of your day and save you from picking away at perhaps not so healthy foods.

Like my Green Smoothie, this Chocolate Smoothie can have many variations, so once again I want to arm you with tips and information so that you can design your own Chocolate Smoothie. You’ll be surprised at how you can put it together even when you think you don’t have enough ingredients.

Ingredients

Here is a superfood list of ingredients you can use, to make a basic economical Chocolate Smoothie.
One frozen banana
1 Tbsp. SuperFoodies Raw Organic Cacao Powder
I glass of almond milk (or milk/liquid of your choice)
2 fresh medjool dates (or 2-3 dried dates) sometimes helps the blending if you soak the dried dates first
Small handful of raw pre-soaked almonds

Method

Chop dates and add to a blender with the nuts, almond milk, chopped up frozen banana and cacao powder. Blend till smooth and creamy. Enjoy!!

Variations

Try adding only one or two ingredients below if desired.
1 Tbsp. Lucuma powder (lucuma and cacao powder are sooo delicious together)
1 Tbsp. Maca powder (delicious vanilla flavour and supports hormonal balance)
1 Tbsp. Yacon powder (sweet maple flavour, low glycaemic, supports bowel health)
1 Tbsp. Sacha Inchi protein powder (protein for building lean muscle and fuel for working out)
1 Tbsp. Cacao Nibs (gives double the cacao benefits and even more flavour)
1 tsp. Maqui Berry Powder (flavour, antioxidants, detox)
1 tsp. Camu Camu (Vitamin C lovers)
¼ to ½ fresh avocado
The possibilities are endless!

Chocolate Smoothie Tips

Once you have your basic ingredients you can add one or two of the recommended add-ons. The avocado adds a texture to the smoothie that is quite special, so don’t be afraid to throw it in, it doesn’t detract from flavour and it adds all those healthy oils. If you don’t have any raw almonds then add some sacha inchi protein powder, maca or lucuma. I could rave on endlessly, but I hope you can see how you can design your own delicious Chocolate Smoothie that is an energy charge and mood elevating afternoon rescue remedy.
