Superfoodies’ Raw Organic Cacao Nibs are made from the richly flavoured and much sought-after Criollo bean from Peru, packed with antioxidants and minerals. On the cacao tree grows the cacao pod, inside the pod is cacao fruit and seeds. The seeds are also known as cacao beans and when these beans are shelled and crushed Cacao Nibs are produced. When added to smoothies, yoghurts, desserts and raw treats the taste is very pure chocolate, quite delicate in comparison to Cacao Powder, and they also add a nicely textured crunch. Organic Cacao Nibs are fantastic for making energy bars and raw treats.
Cacao Nibs have an extremely high antioxidant score on the ORAC scale. By eating high antioxidant foods in our diet it is believed we are helping to guard against cellular and tissue damage which often lead to illness. Magnesium is also abundant in Cacao and it is magnesium that is known to be the most important mineral for a healthy heart. It is also believed to assist with the brain function to bring clarity and focus.
Cacao’s reputation for being a mood elevator is due to the presence of serotonin and other neurotransmitters, just another good reason to indulge!
