superfoodies-organic-raw-yacon-powder
yacon powder, raw, organic

Superfoodies Organic Yacon Powder is made from the Yacon root, harvested in the Andes region of Peru. Recently Yacon has been gaining popularity as an alternative natural sweetener. Also known as Peruvian ground apple, Yacon is sweet in flavour but low-glycaemic. Yacon Powder contains high levels of the prebiotic fibre inulin, a fructooligosaccharide (FOS) that provides sweetness in a form that is indigestible by humans so therefore will pass through the digestive tract and not affect blood sugar levels. As a prebiotic, it aids digestive health and gut microbial balance. Since these sugars are not digested they are also low in calories making Superfoodies’ Organic Raw Yacon Powder suitable for diet and low calorie foods.

According to David Wolfe in his book “Superfood: The Food and Medicine of the Future” ‘as a prebiotic, yacon is good for digestion, stimulates positive colon health and helps with the absorption of calcium, magnesium and B vitamins. Yacon helps to regulate friendly intestinal flora.’ In addition Organic Yacon Powder is a good source of potassium, calcium, phosphorous and iron.

Try out our recipe for a delicious Homemade Superfood Protein Bar packed full of great protein and good fats that will keep you energised, and so easy to put together.
