It’s time to get your daily ‘summer smoothie routine’ cranked up as summer is almost upon us …

Developing a ‘healthy smoothie habit’ is one sure way to feel fantastic and ready for the frivolous season.

Now I’ve surfaced from publishing my first e-book, I can honestly say I’m absolutely certain that keeping my daily superfood smoothie going is what kept me healthy and energised though all the late nights and hectic weekends I spent immersed in cacao recipes.

This smoothie recipe is what I’ve been having daily recently and it is so fresh and delicious. Lemon juice is the key and, lucky for me, I’ve been hoarding lemons from “friends with trees”.

Summer Smoothie

Summer SmoothieIngredients

1 large handful of spinach / or kale (stalks removed)
½ stalk celery – chopped
1 apple – chopped with skin on
1 handful fresh pineapple – skin removed and diced
1 frozen chopped banana – skin removed
1 handful of fresh mint
Juice of 1 lemon
1 glass filtered water
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon sacha inchi protein powder
2 teaspoons green smoothie shot
1 teaspoon camu camu powder / or maqui berry / or acai berry

Method

  1. Place the first 8 ingredients in a blender and blitz for 30-60 seconds.
  2. Then add the remaining 4 superfoods and blitz for a further 30-60 seconds
  3. Enjoy.

* Notes:

These 2 preparation tips help reduce your morning smoothie prep time.

  1. Keep celery fresh by washing and then store sticks lying down in a covered container of water in the refrigerator. It keeps fresh for weeks, just change the water every now and then.
  2. For pineapple, remove the skin, chop into pieces and place in a container in the refrigerator. It also keeps fresh for days.
