Superfoodies’ Organic Raw Mesquite Powder comes from the seedpod of a leguminous plant native to Peru’s Northern forests. Once harvested by local communities, the seeds are sun dried to produce a sweet nutty tasting powder, ideal for use as a low-GI alternative to sugar for use in baking, raw treats or smoothies. Historically a dietary staple of the Native Americans, mesquite cakes were treasured for their sustained slow-release energy. We now know that its rich content of soluble fibres and protein, particularly Lysine, make this a great addition to a healthy diet.
